Leadership Program

Inspiring Change and Building a Brighter Future

The WVI Dolphin Foundation and its partners have developed a unique, hybrid—in-person and virtual—Leadership and Life Skills Mentorship Program. This program connects underserved high-school-aged youth and Blue- and Gold-Star high schoolers between the ages of 15 and 18 with a remarkable lineup of volunteer mentors. These mentors feature celebrity athletes, veterans, and accomplished entrepreneurs and executives. These mentors share their inspiring stories of overcoming adversity as part of the program's character development component. Additionally, the program offers engaging modules focused on STEM, job readiness training, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and the concept of Leadership as Service. Certificate awardees receive direct introductions to potential corporate employers sourced from our robust WVI Dolphin Foundation ecosystem.

We inspire the fortunate to utilize their prestige, wealth, and power to "give back" and make a disproportionate impact on underserved youth and veterans.

Our end goal is to produce a growing network of diverse, service-oriented young leaders who, in turn, mentor others, become high-performing employees in the for-profit and/or non-profit sectors, and contribute to society as a whole.

Over 200 mentees follow our program and are in our database — and growing.

Stories Of Our Mentees That Inspire Change

Here is what some of our mentees have to say.

I would love to get involved with the WVI Dolphin Foundation and the work it does to assist and contribute to the growth of youth sports programs. I think it is very important that a special effort be made to develop programs for girls with an emphasis on female coaches.

Alexis Moed

President and coach of New York Islanders Girls Elite Hockey at Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow

I go to Bronx Aerospace High School. In my opinion the best part of the workshop was getting to see a tour of the building. What interested me the most was learning about the 36 different jobs that I could possibly work for in the engineering industry. I would love to pursue a career in sustainability that consists of helping people when they are in need which is why I applied for the FDNY to become an EMT.

Jeremiah Smith

Age 17 – Bronx Aero Space High School

Through the mentors I develop a clear understanding of who I want to be, where I want to go, and what I have to do to achieve it. The combination of some understanding of different fields, keeping in mind the leadership, and having the mentors to guide me through the program leads me to become more involved in clubs. I am more involved in terms of helping my teammates on my sports team. I became a club president.

Andrew Souhrada

Age 17 – Southampton

The WVI Dolphin Foundation has help me succeed in my highschool career through skills that they have taught me like resume building, how to speak in interviews, and how to really present myself in certain scenarios and networking skills, more about entrepreneurship and i was really able to receive a letter of recommendation from the WVI Dolphin Foundation and they attach that to my MIT admission and I got admitted. I am really excited about that.

Yassine Boukaissi

Age 18 – Southampton High School
