Creating an Ocean of Opportunities for Underserved Youth, Veterans, and First Responders

Leadership and Life Skills Mentorship Program

Our Career Growth Program provides underserved high-school-aged youth and Blue- and Gold-Star mentees with the unique
opportunity to learn from accomplished business volunteer mentors. It includes a character development component where mentors share their stories of overcoming adversity, as well as modules on STEM, job readiness training, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership as service. Program graduates receive direct introductions to potential corporate and other employers sourced from our robust WVI Dolphin Foundation ecosystem.

Enabling Excellence through Scholarships

The WVI Dolphin Foundation's scholarship programs, through strategic partnerships with our benefactors, the New York City Police Foundation, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart, provide financial support to veteran members, first responders, and underserved students to pursue their education, enhance their leadership and life skills, and better serve our communities and nation.

Our Theory of Change
The Dolphin Code of Conduct
and Our Growing “Virtuous Circle”

The beating heart of our foundation and leadership and life skill mentorship program is our Dolphin Code of Conduct:

Give first and keep giving
Earn trust with every touch
Add value even
if there is no transaction
Be a serial connector for others
Build long-term relationships and community
Monetize for positive impact

Our ecosystem includes collaboration with our program partners and sponsors whose active engagement enables us to offer and enhance our programs.

Stories That Inspire Change

Here is what some of our donors, mentees, and mentors have to say.

I would love to get involved with the WVI Dolphin Foundation and the work it does to assist and contribute to the growth of youth sports programs. I think it is very important that a special effort be made to develop programs for girls with an emphasis on female coaches.

Alexis Moed

President and coach of New York Islanders Girls Elite Hockey at Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow

“The Dolphin Foundation has found the magic key for inspiring people to work together in peace, harmony, respect, healing, and goodwill.”

Mitzi Perdue

Founder of Win This Fight, Stop Human Trafficking Now

I would love to get involved with the WVI Dolphin Foundation and the work it does to assist and contribute to the growth of youth sports programs. I think it is very important that a special effort to be made to develop programs for girls with an emphasis on female coaches. Women coaching girls is a powerful relationship and through this mentorship, girls understand that if they see it, they can be it. Thank you again for the recognition, and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

You can pass on wealth, and I guess that could be easy with the help of estate planners. But to pass on values to the next generation, I think that’s a much more difficult task. It is a very good mission.

Bob Robbins

Chief Sales Officer of JUUL Labs

I go to Bronx Aerospace High School. In my opinion the best part of the workshop was getting to see a tour of the building. What interested me the most was learning about the 36 different jobs that I could possibly work for in the engineering industry. I would love to pursue a career in sustainability that consists of helping people when they are in need which is why I applied for the FDNY to become an EMT.

Through the mentors I develop a clear understanding of who I want to be, where I want to go, and what I have to do to achieve it. The combination of some understanding of different fields, keeping in mind the leadership, and having the mentors to guide me through the program leads me to become more involved in clubs. I am more involved in terms of helping my teammates on my sports team. I became a club president.

Andrew Souhrada

Age 17 – Southampton

The WVI Dolphin Foundation has help me succeed in my highschool career through skills that they have taught me like resume building, how to speak in interviews, and how to really present myself in certain scenarios and networking skills, more about entrepreneurship and i was really able to receive a letter of recommendation from the WVI Dolphin Foundation and they attach that to my MIT admission and I got admitted. I am really excited about that.

Learning about the WVI Dolphin Foundation has provided us with renewed energy and commitment to the mission of APK Charities. We realize that there is much we can do to support our veterans, active military, and Gold Star Families in memory of our son, Capt. Andrew Pedersen- Keel.

We were honored to have been invited to be present at the WVI Dolphin Foundation dinner. We were very impressed by the people that we met and the stories that brought them to the dinner. Just to be in the same room with a Medal of Honor recipient was impressive and will be long remembered.

I have to say that what touched me were the honorees tonight. I was inspired by every one of the stories and impact that all our honorees are having in sports, youth sports, and in changing the lives of our next generation – what an honorable thing to do and let’s keep up the momentum!

Pat LaFontaine

Congratulations on a great dinner! I was proud to be part of it and play a small role. Pat LaFontaine was fantastic. His passion and commitment was obvious and contagious. The awardees were great. This should present a great opportunity to build on for the future.

The Spirit of Youth dinner was a truly great event and one that I am quite passionate about. I am glad that my colleague brought it to our attention and that JP Morgan Private Bank was able to lend our support. I appreciate your offer to connect with other folks who share the passion to develop young men and women through sports.
